What's New in Version 2?

Several utilities have been enhanced and several new functions have been added to ZZUtils in version 2.  Also, the user interface has been improved.

Global Improvements

User interface All screens and reports have been standardized with a common header and the use of PF keys.
Customization All customization is controlled through a single source module.  For example users may specify their organization's name for use in all maps and report headers.
Security During customization library-specific utilities may be secured.  An unsecured utility allows the user to specify the Natural library to be processed.  A secured utility will act upon only the  user's current library.
Standards Many utilities which had accessed FUSER directly have been modified to use Natural's user exits (USR routines).
Help text With few exceptions, all utilities provide help text at the screen and field levels.

Enhanced Utilities

ZZUTILS The menu program has been enhanced to allow for multiple pages of functions.  The number of user-defined functions is limited only by the amount of memory available to Natural.  Functions may be grouped by forcing entries to a new column or a new page.
ZZADACMD In addition to Natural 2 support, ZZADACMD processes catalogued objects for Natural version 3.
ZZDATES now converts to and from Natural's *TIMESTMP value (IBM's internal STORCLOCK).  The user-specified date and time may be incremented or decremented by an elapsed time, specified in days, hours, and minutes.
ZZPUNCH Source modules may now be punched with an optional header line, or the punched output may be limited to module headers.  These output options are used in library-to-library comparisons.
ZZTMSTMP Date and time stamps may be converted to and from the internal STORCLOCK value used by Natural's *TIMESTMP variable.

New Utilities

ZZCOPYBK converts an LDA into a COBOL copybook.
ZZCOPINC converts (incorporates) a COBOL copybook into an LDA.
ZZSCAN scans a Natural library for occurrences of up to 5 character strings.  Optionally a WORK file of the output may be created for subsequent processing.
ZZSEARCH searches for a module name or wild card in all libraries within multiple, user-specified FUSER files. Timestamp data are displayed for each occurrence.
ZZTDOC creates documentation for source code walkthroughs.  Natural, COBOL, JCL, Proc, PDS control member, and sample output listings are combined into a single, formatted Word document, with title page and table of contents.   All source changes are highlighted (shaded) for easy identification.  For each Natural module, a listing of embedded Adabas commands is included, via ZZADACMD.
ZZTDPROF maintains user profiles for ZZTDOC.  The profiles allow for customization which expedites data entry within ZZTDOC
ZZVPARM converts a DDM into a parameter data area (with field name, format, and length attributes).  The parameter data areas are intended for use within subprograms to which database fields are passed.

Retired Utilities

ZZCOMP This source comparison utility has been replaced by ZZTDOC.
ZZCOMPM This source comparison utility has been replaced by ZZTDOC. Internally, ZZCOMPM invoked ZZPUNCH, which is still available.
